Spork

I have been blogging off and on for the past several years. I have never had much success in continuing to write my blog consistently, I’m not sure why I keep falling short on it. I know I have an issue with follow through or follow up.

When I worked for a major coffee chain as an Assistant Store manager, I had the same issue with follow up. I started full of vim and vigor, but eventually the momentum would slowly be stifled and I would lose interest in the project. So much so that when the time came for my final “assignment” to eventually be promoted to Manager, the management team that I was mentoring under deemed me unworthy to be a manager.

This has been the story for most of my life. I have grand plans and they would be exceptional, but I always seem to sabotage my plans somewhere by losing interest or failing to follow through.

This has obviously happened with my blog and YouTube channel – Vanities by the Bonfire. I had some great ideas and plans to make these a source of information, edification, and entertainment.

I think that this is the best option still for me to do something with my writing and make some money for our future. I am striving to continue doing this blog and hoping to get back into my YouTube channel soon.

I know that I have a few faithful followers and subscribers and I will continue to write my blog and provide content to the universe. I will not let you down, I will continue to come up with some more interesting topics for the future.

It’s funny how I was going to write something else in this blog but I seem to have become sidetracked. That’s how my mind works, I have something important (?) to say and then when pen gets to paper, something else comes out and I am wondering where that came from.

My original intent of this entry wasn’t a pity party for my lack of blogging, or my failing YouTube channel, it was about spam.

Ever since I started blogging I haven’t had a lot of feedback from followers or others. I do get some comments from a friend or two regarding my blog, which I enjoy and take to heart. However since switching to this platform on my own domain, I am getting a plethora of spam comments that I have to moderate.

Apparently, people, spammers, feel that I need university papers written, or I need cheap drugs from Canadian pharmacies (I’m in Canuckistan, I already get cheap drugs). Maybe I need ED drugs, or someone to build my website.

On average I get probably 50 spam messages a day advertising these things, some of which I can’t even understand because the comment is all in Cyrillic, Russian, or some other language that I am not familiar with.

So my daily routine is to check out my Google AdSense report and then clear out the spam, looking for a nugget of a real comment for my blog. Once that is done, I go about my day.

I didn’t realize that there is still so much spam out there, and so much to take care of to try to keep a viable blog going.

I guess it’s time for me to eat my morning apple and go about my day.

Hey Dan, putting pen to paper can often lead to doing something you had not planned on. Other things sometimes need to come out and I found it was a good thing as it can be quite cathartic just following where your pen leads. I enjoy your blogs and like to leave a reply. Keep it up luv!
