The past two weeks we have been inundated with hearing the C word and not enough F words. I am not usually offended or bothered by most words, however I am bothered by the constant use of them around me.
I think the media is sensationalizing the impact of the C and not putting it into proper perspective. Every year it seems that there is a new “C” to take the emphasis off the impact of the F. Every night, and every issue of the newspaper there is breaking news about the dangers of C, but they’re not comparing it to the over all issues caused by the F.
I am certain that you know what I am talking about, I don’t want to actually write the full words out because I don’t want to be part of the fear mongering.
This outbreak, and almost every other “outbreak”, is completely preventable. Think about every time you’ve heard about C, F, S, or H, they could all be prevented by simple hand washing. Every year they talk about how to prevent it. WASH YOUR HANDS, don’t cough or sneeze into your hands, refrain from shaking hands or kissing strangers.
I think we have all been taught to wash our hands, at least before dinner. I believe we’ve all been taught to cover our mouths when sneezing or coughing. This isn’t rocket science, it’s plain old laziness. We are getting sick and spreading a “pandemic” because we’re lazy.
Now the main point of my diatribe is that they’re talking about how virulent and deadly C is. This is the media spinning their fear mongering. We don’t need to be terrified by the potential of C. The most truthful part of the entire news stories being pandered right now is that it’s new, even though this isn’t entirely true. It’s new because it’s a mutation of an older virus.
The amount of people who have died from C so far is significantly lower than the deaths worldwide by F. F is by far more deadly, and more of an issue than C is, S was, or even H was. Mathematically (in my opinion), F is responsible for more deaths than C+S+H combined.
I am not saying don’t be concerned by the recent outbreak of whatever the disease du jour is. Put it into perspective, compare it to current diseases like F. You can’t let it negatively influence your life because it’s not going to end the world, it’s not going to bring about the apocalypse. IGNORANCE is.
On a side note, personally, I am disappointed by the fact that the new James Bond movie is being delayed because of this new bug. The fear mongering news has won again.

Thomas agrees with you. When he went into Costco today staffed jerked the cart from him so they could wipe the handle. He was like a little late I have already touched it. It is completed crazy. Maybe someone trying to stimulate the economy? Seems some industries will have a good week this week.
