Living in a Modern Day Pandemic

It’s a month into the current pandemic. Most non-essential places are closed. Social distancing is the new norm.

I feel that we’re living in a day and age when this shouldn’t be as big as it has become. We have modern science to determine if someone is sick, we have the ability for the majority of people to work or get educated at home. However as much science and actual knowledge that we have about the virus and how to deal with it, there’s always nay-sayers.

I feel that we’re on the verge of getting a cure for this disease that will eventually help us all, but then the nay-sayers will decide that the virus isn’t the problem but the vaccine is the problem. I’m all for people speaking their mind, or having differing opinions but when it comes to the health and safety of the rest of the world, and vulnerable population, these people shouldn’t be allowed to spread their ignorance and fear-mongering.

I think it’s these same people that caused the whole rush on hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and face masks. Now the people that ACTUALLY need the face masks face shortages.

This is not the time to get bent out of shape, this is the time for cooler heads to prevail. We need the powers that be to decide what is best for defeating this virus. I am not saying that they should have cart blanche to decide what’s best for us, but in levelling out the “bubble”, reducing the amount new infections and allowing the people a chance to focus on getting better and moving forward.

There’s a lot of memes out there that poke fun at the virus, and I will admit that I am the first one to chuckle at them, and/or repost them. I believe that we have to try to get as much joy out of life as possible, and that means not taking everything so dreadfully serious. Yes, there will be a massive influx of children being born in December, called Coronials. I can only hope that this virus isn’t something that will cause some form of birth defects.

Nobody has mentioned if and what the impact of the virus will be on a pregnant woman. I figure best case scenario the Coronials will be born with immunity to the virus, worst case scenario, birth defects or miscarriages.

Of course I am not a doctor, I don’t know the affect of the virus to a person aside from what has been described on the news. Respiratory problems and fever. I don’t know much more than that. I do know that the majority of what we are hearing is fear mongering from the news, because that’s what the news does. Wouldn’t it be nice to get the news without them trying to scare society?

I know that this particular entry has been rather meandering, and not seeming to follow one coherent thought but it’s not my preferred subject type. I cantaloupe what comes next.
