First, let me apologize about the relative lack of entries in my blog this past while. I was sick last week and I have been pondering a rather deep subject. Unlike most of my posts which are kind of light and fluffy, this one will be a little more serious.
I have been pondering and stewing on this subject for a few weeks now and I knew that I was going to write about it but I wasn’t sure if I should or not. This can be a bit of a touchy subject for a lot of people. I’m talking about the US vs Iran issue that is going on in the world and news right now.
Specifically I am talking about the “accidental downing” of the Ukrainian airliner that killed many Canadians. It first came out as a “problem” with the airliner, then it was admitted as “accidental downing” by someone thinking that it was a missile strike, the latest is that it was an “accidental downing” by an over zealous General.
I think that the “accidental” part that won’t be admitted to is that it was supposed to be Americans that were shot down, not Canadians or Ukrainians or anybody else. Based on the latest actions of the Iranian military, they are targeting Americans and American properties in Iran.
When I first saw the news about the downing of the Airliner I was in shock, just as I am sure that most of you were too. I have had time to digest this and the subsequent information that has come out regarding it and the other activities of the Iranian military, and while I cannot condone what happened, what I am hoping is that the shooting down of the Airliner has a positive impact and none of those lives would have been lost in vain.
I know that you are thinking, “How can you think that this action has a positive outcome?” I’m hoping that this tragedy will cause all of the world to take a step back and look at what’s going on. As I see it, prior to the downing of the Airliner, Iran and the US would go into an all out war, potentially leading to another World War, best case scenario is another Gulf War type engagement.
After the downing, I know I shouldn’t constantly call it a “downing” but I can’t figure out what else to call it. I think that this tragedy might allow both sides to take a step back and let the tensions die down. This could bring them both back to the table to discuss what the issues are and get back to a peaceful proposal.
I’m sorry for being a Dan the Downer, but I wanted to share my insights with you.
Did you know that Tomatoes are considered a fruit?
It is such a game that people play. My __ is bigger than your ___. It just goes on and on. And when you have immature imbeciles in power, their toys just get bigger and more dangerous. Posturing between these war mongers continues to grow. The downing was collateral damage brought on by a response to the behaviour of the Trump and the rest of these egomaniacal, power hungry, “I’m the man”, war mongers. Peoples’ lives mean nothing to them. They sit safely in their ivory towers and give orders that condemn the people of the world to their whims. Sorry for the rant Dan, but I so look forward to the day when we have sane, mature people in the power positions. I know, I live in hope, but it doesn’t look promising does it?
Hey Ronnie! I appreciate your point of view. I find the problem comes down to the people don’t have a clue about who they vote into office. America has a power hungry tyrant and Canada has an imbecile. People vote and when the election disguise comes off, there isn’t a procedure to get rid of the scumbag that has been elected or a way to keep them accountable.
But we can dream.
