Daily I sit in my van or in my house, or walk past something that makes me want to blog. Typically it’s just I want to get my opinion out there, sometimes, rarely, it’s an Earth shattering concept that NEEDS to be shared. I say to myself “Remember this, blog about it when you get a chance.” (ie When you get home, or to your coffee shop with your laptop.)
I seriously ponder this for several minutes, sometimes an hour or so, aggrandizing the idea or concept. Finally the time comes when I am able to sit down and put pen to paper, so to speak, I completely forget that I had such an idea and lose myself in my favorite television show. I can sometimes get distracted from anything by anything else. A good example of this is, I just took a five minute break to floss my teeth in the middle of this paragraph.
I thought the key to making sure that my good ideas don’t get wasted was to put a note in my iPhone. I have a note titled “Blog”. I have one note in it, “Compare search for Higgs-Boson to Christianity”. It’s obscure and a bit out there, but it does trigger the memory of the concept I was wanting to get across. Have I posted the idea of that? No.. because I decided I don’t want to come across as being pretentious. Perhaps next week I will post it, but today I don’t think it’s a good idea to post something so deep and potentially divisive.
Even as I sat here today intent on writing in my blog, I pondered what to write about, and nothing worth writing came up. I wracked my brain and concentrated to the point of passing out, and still nothing worth writing came up. I decided then since nothing worth writing was posing itself, that I would write about blog posts, and how I come up with them.
I was really hoping that during my rambling here I might come up with something bigger-better but so far nothing has made itself evident.
When I decide to write a blog, I don’t sit down and write a rough draft, you may notice it. I don’t get someone to proof read it for content or continuity. I just write as my brain farts along. This is the similar process of how I try to write books but after I write a chapter or portion I send it off to my editor du jour and expect them to correct the content or express issues with continuity.
Ah ha! It finally happened. Inspiration struck. Continue on with your day, right after you read my next EXPLOSIVE blog post.
