A Sickness, A Funeral, and a Book

Honestly I don’t know if the title really has anything to do with my blog post today. I have been meaning to write more, and I haven’t had much of a chance. I know that I should be posting more here but alas, I have had other engagements.

Today Runningfawn is sick, she’s been sick for the past week, slowly getting worse, and her ailment came to a head yesterday and she had to take yesterday and today off of work. This doesn’t impact my writing much, it does give me the chance to have more naps as she naps too.. Today she’s feeling better than she was yesterday but still has some remnants of the ailment plaguing her.

I went to a funeral last week, it was for the father of a friend. One of Runningfawn’s oldest friends. It was a nice funeral service, if you can call a funeral nice. I find that the best part of a funeral is the chance to meet old friends and reminisce. Runningfawn’s friend came over to Runningfawn’s parents place and we had some good times catching up and discussing old times. It’s nice in the fact that Runningfawn and I have only been together for 16 almost 17 years and to hear about her life before me, to hear about her life and adventures from 40 years ago, is nice.

I also started reading a book series called the Witcher, by a Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. This was prompted by the book(s) being made into a Netflix series that I have binged and I wanted to get into the original series. I am enjoying it immensely, although sometimes reading a book in epub format leads to frustration with the conversion from paper to digital isn’t done right and there’s words that are not converted properly. This is a good sign of poor conversion.

Even as I was uploading the graphic to show you a poor epub conversion, Runningfawn asks, “How do you raise your anus?” It’s supposed to say, “He raised his arms,”. I will mention that this excerpt, is not from the Witcher, but from one of the Richard and Kahlan novels by Terry Goodkind.

Years and years ago, I had a friend get me into this series, and I really enjoyed “The Sword of Truth” series, until about book 4, when it seemed to become formulaic, Richard and Kahlan are together, they seem happy, then something happens and it tears them apart, and you wait the entire book for them to get back together. I don’t recall how many books are in the series, but it’s the same for each and every one of them. I just wanted a book where they could be together, even if it was fighting the bad guy together, but no, they have to separate them and make them fight to be together and happy. And then the worst possible thing happened, ABC(Disney) bought the rights to the books to turn them into a TV series, long before GoT was on TV. The TV series was called “Legend of the Seeker”. It sucked! In my opinion, the casting was all wrong, the stories weren’t true to the books and the worst part in my opinion, the author liked the TV series. Even today there are some die hard fans that still espouse “Save our Seeker” on social media. Ten years after the TV show was on the air, I decided to give it another try, hoo boy, did it still stink.

I heard that they’re finally going to try “The Wheel of Time” series as a TV show, I hope the producers are more like GoT and less like the LotS. I enjoyed the GoT series on TV and the books too. I’m still disappointed that George R R Martin hasn’t finished the book series yet, but I can wait. The good thing about tWoT series is that the author is dead and we won’t have to wait for the final book before the TV show ends.

Now, this took a turn… I didn’t expect to get into books and TV shows, but i wasn’t sure where I was going to go with this entry today. I don’t usually pre-plan what I am going to write but I do usually have a theme that I try to stick to.

Did you know that coffee is a fruit?
