There is a sour taste in my mouth this week. Sour like sucking on a lemon wedge. I am so frustrated by vultures calling me, constantly.
I registered a domain last week for my wife http://www.ChristineVScheer.com for use in her upcoming project. When I register my domains I do not add the privacy feature on my Whois record, so people know who registered the domain and my contact information. I don’t use the privacy feature because I find it excessive to have to pay for this feature.
Thus I have been getting multiple calls every day since I registered the domain from companies wanting to help me build my website, or use their search engine optimization tools. I answer these calls because I am unemployed currently and have applications out there and it could be a potential employer calling me.
Instead of employers calling me, it’s a robocall, then a person I can barely understand, all asking me if I want their help with my newly registered domain. I tell them that I didn’t give them permission to call me, and they are violating my rights to privacy. They just stay on the line, waiting for me to say yes, that I want their services.
In my mind, if I wanted someone to take care of these things I would have contacted them already, specifically I would have found someone local to do this. Why would I contract some “company” in the US or Asia to do this job, when there are plenty of underemployed people in my city that would do this, and probably for less money.
If any of these vultures are reading my blog, and I hope that you are, I want you to know that I do not give you permission to contact me in any way, shape or form.
I am not normally a very private person and receiving an occasional unsolicited call wouldn’t bother me, but this is excessive. Henceforth I am going to be taking the names and numbers of all these companies that are harassing me and I am going to complain to my domain host, and the government to see if we can’t get this resolved so that other people aren’t being harassed.
Sour Lemons indeed..
